Question: Discuss about the Quality Managementfor PDCA. Answer: Introduction Total quality management can be classified into four categories: Plan, do, check and act (PDCA). Planning is the key strategy of building a strong quality management team to meet consumers need. Planning phase involves identifying possible problems employees face in their daily work schedule and researching on the root cause analysis to collect data for solving the problem. Doing phase involves the staff and the management team addressing the problem raised in the planning phase. Employees develop a solution for problems addressed at this stage. Strategies are developed to solve problems identified from research conducted within the company and the data is stored for future use just in case a similar problem recurs in the company. The competency of the solution offered for the problem is also recorded in the doing phase. Checking phase involves the study of a solution offered to a problem solved in a company/ organization. It is designed to identify if the solution offered to a probl em is effective or not. In acting phase, employees record their analysis in the companys production files and tackles the problem. Concepts Related to Total Quality Management Quality is measured regarding reliability, durability, usage etc. Total quality management involves employees researching available innovations to improve the quality of products through suitable feedback and research. Every individual working in a company or industry has the obligation to participate in contribution towards improving the quality of services their company offer to consumers. Effective quality management is a joint effort of the staff members, management team, suppliers and workforce working together to meet specific customers needs. Comparison Between Quality Management Approaches for Organizational Success Quality management ensures that products produced are of superior quality that satisfy consumers needs. The quality of products is measured using performance, durability, and reliability. Quality management incorporates positive changes in the system and mode of operation in a workstation that intern builds high-quality yield of superior productivity to satisfy customer needs and outshine the competition in the consumer market. The goal of the quality management team is to ensure products are produced with superior quality to avoid customer complain. Quality management is also essential to satisfy customers needs which intern increases the loyalty of customers to a company or organization. Businesses depend on the old customers and new customers to generate profits from the sales of their consumable products. An effective consistency in the production of competitive quality of products and services is needed to maintain the old customers who eventually refer more new customers to pur chase similar products they love. Nevertheless, effective quality management increases revenue generated by a business and improves the productivity of a company/ organization. When a company/ organization is doing well financially, both the employees and the management team benefits because their salary doesn't delay. The consumers also benefit by getting products that are worth their investments. Quality management is thus, an essential key to run a successful business. Other than that, effective quality management also enables a business to reduce waste of products, time and inventory. On the other hand, total quality management is a combined effort between the employees and the management team to formulate effective policies and strategies to produce high-quality services which not only satisfy consumer needs but also transcend customer satisfaction. Some effective total quality management models embraced by different companies includes: Deming application price, Malcolm Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence, European Foundation for Quality Management, and ISO quality management standards. Ones the needs of consumers is identified, relevant improvements can be made to the quality of products distributed to the consumers market. The quality assurance team practice total quality management model by collecting data, analyzing and solving the issues raised by their customers from their analysis. The entir e staffs of employees and the management team have to contribute towards creating of effective quality management team module to satisfy customers need. An effective implementation of the quality management module requires the active participation of the suppliers, clients, management, and customers to give feedback to the quality assurance team. The end users (Customers) are the key determinants to develop an effective total quality management model. Total quality management tools enable companies/ organizations to research, collect and analyze data for the staff of a company to analyze understand the root course analysis of a problem. Quality management tools enable employees to collect data to develop effective total management model to eliminate possible quality issues recorded in the production of consumable commodities. Nevertheless, total quality management tool enables employees to identify and solve problems that incur within their workstations repeatedly. The most effective quality management tools are a checklist, Pareto charts, diagrams of cause and effect, histogram, scatter diagram and graphs. Checklists are used to collect data and information. Checklists play a crucial role in identifying problems within the company/ organization that prevents them from delivering outstanding quality in production. Pareto charts enable employees to identify possible problems, prioritize and identify the frequency of occurrence in t he companys system. The cause and effect diagram is used to determine the root course of the problem, identify its effects and solve the problem. Histograms help to identify the possible cause of a problem and show the depth/ intense of the problem. Graphs are the most popular quality management tools. Graphs indicate whether productivity is taking place as per expected targets. Organizational Factors that Influence Total Quality Management There are seven major factors that influence Total Quality Management in companies. They include; leadership, training, organizational structures, communication, incentives, measurement evaluation, and teamwork. Suwandej N. (2015). Great leadership skills are the key strategy towards incorporating rules and regulation in a company/ organization. A company that has skilled leaders is likely to generate products of high quality. In the Quality Assurance department, it is the responsibility of the (QA) team to monitor and ensure that all the production rules are followed within a company or organization. The QA team also plays a prominent role to develop more strategies to solve quality issues reported to the company/ organization by customers. Training not only enables the employed staffs to know their duties at work but it also enables the trained employees to be in a position to tackle quality issues reported in their department. Employees who are well-trained are likely to identify quality problems in their early stage of development and solve the issues to prevent severe losses to a company/ organization. The organizational structure also affects total quality management. A company/ organization that is well spaced has chances of delivering high-quality services. Effective spacing in a company/ organization enables employees to have an easy time during cleaning of their workstations which intern boosts the quality of productivity. Nevertheless, communication also plays a significant importance in the influence of total quality management. Communication is the key strategy to identify quality problems. Effective communication from the suppliers, clients, management team, and production teams enables the QA (quality assurance team) to use information provided to build an effective strategy to eliminate quality issues within a company/ organization. Ones a problem is identified, measurement evaluation is done to the problem identified and solved before it brin gs complications to the company/ organization quality standards. Lastly, teamwork is the most vital aspect that affects the total quality management of any company/ organization. Teamwork involves uniting and working together towards achieving a similar organization goal which in this case, delivering high-quality services to consumers. Conclusion From the discussion above, we have realized that Total quality management is wide and involves the supplier, the Quality assurance team, employees (production team), management team, clients and consumers. When a company is in a position to produce goods and services of a competitive quality that meet consumer needs, they are likely to retain their existing clients who can refer more customers to bring more business to the company or organization. Effective teamwork is needed within a company/ organization for total quality management to be effective towards meeting quality goals of production. Thus, we can come to a conclusion that total quality management is an essential factor towards creating a good consumer relationship which interns boosts sales of products and services to the competitive consumers market.
